World zinc production may decrease by 2030

The world production of zinc, will remain in 2025 almost at the level of the current year, its growth is expected at the level of 0.9%, up to 12.6 million tons, according to the forecast of analysts Global Data.

Growth in output will be restrained by lower zinc output in China and the US. In the US, zinc production will decline due to the planned reduction of metal output at the Red Dog mine.

By 2030, global zinc production will fall to 12 million tons, reflecting declines in Peru, India, China, Bolivia and Kazakhstan, experts predict.

However, Australia and Canada are expected to see a marked increase in output between 2024 and 2030. In December 2023, Australia updated its list of strategically important metals and minerals to include zinc.
