Turkey’s imports of hot-rolled coils totaled 156,000 tons in July this year, down 42.8% from June and 49.7% from the previous year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports totaled $105.8 million, 40.2% less than the previous month and 54.8% less than the previous year.
During the period from January to July, Turkey’s imports of hot-rolled coils totaled 2,191,000 tons, down 19.2%, while the value of imports fell 23.7% to $1.43 billion year-on-year.
China was the largest source of hot-rolled coil imports to Turkey during the period, supplying 1,056 thousand tons. China was followed by Egypt with 399 thousand tons and Russia with 207 thousand tons.
