Russian packaging manufacturers are losing the information war, although without polymer packaging almost all sectors of the economy will suffer losses. This was stated by Mikhail Katsevman, President of the Union of Plastics Processors, at the conference “Packaging 2024 ”. According to him, companies should resist rather than acquiesce to higher taxes and environmental fees.

“Become an informant for society about the extent to which modern man’s everyday life and comfort depends on plastic packaging. No one will do this job for you,” Katsevman emphasized.

Polymer production capacity in Russia by 2030 may grow 2 times, up to 15.5 million tons per year, while polymer processing capacity will amount to no more than 9 million tons per year. Therefore, polymer producers will depend on exports.

This year, the situation of packaging producers is negatively affected by the rising cost of raw materials and rising interest rates on loans. In 2025, the risk for them will be a slowdown in the industry and the economy as a whole, according to the CREON Conferences Telegram channel.
