«Mechel» in January-September 2023 reduced steelmaking by 2% year-on-year, down to 2.6 million tons. Coal production decreased by 16% to 7.38 million tons, the company said in a statement, TASS reported.
At the same time, pig iron production for the nine months decreased by 2%, to 2.37 million tons.
At the same time, in the third quarter, coal production increased by 17% to the figure for the second quarter, to 2.85 million tons, steel production decreased by 5%, to 839 thousand tons, and pig iron production decreased by 4%, to 753 thousand tons.
In January-September, Mechel’s sales of coking coal concentrate decreased by 28% to 2.25 million tons, flat rolled products — by 5% to 290 thousand tons, and stamped products — increased by 6% to 46 thousand tons. At the same time, sales of long products decreased by 7%, to 1.82 million tons, and forged products — by 13%, to 26 thousand tons.
