Scientists of the Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies (VSUIT) have created a water-soluble film from natural substances for coffee capsules, as well as for capsules used in dishwashers and washing machines. Currently, there is no production of such film in Russia, Lyubov Studenikina, associate professor of the Department of Industrial Ecology and Technosphere Safety at VSUIT, told TASS.
«We have created a water-soluble packaging material that can be used to make sachets, single packs for detergents, face masks and shampoo, capsule films for dishwashers and washing machines, for coffee, as well as for the protective covering of seeds, seedling roots. These are polymers that coat, create a shell, and then dissolve in water. They are transparent films, quite strong and elastic,» said Lyubov Studenikina.
She also noted that currently the film for dissolvable capsules for washing machines and dishwashers is produced in Asian countries, in China. It is not produced in Russia.
«We would like to establish import substitution in this regard, and also — to make more environmentally friendly, to replace with its own raw materials, starch, because we are an agrarian region and can do deep processing of agricultural products,» — said the interlocutor of the agency.
